How did I become an NFT collector?
Seven exciting months ago, I entered the world of NFT as a creator and never thought of buying art with cryptocurrency. But times have changed. Creators too.
FOMO, excitement, and a wallet
May was a month of excitement. My interaction with like-minded creators and techno artists was growing day by day, from the Twitter messages to the WhatsApp community. After several chats and calls with young Crypto Wallet setup experts at NFTMalayali and a week of fruitless struggle over Transak, I have finally managed to put some ETH into Metamask, with the help of my children setting up Binance and P2P transaction, etc. The orange-brown fox never jumped over me with a high gas fee. Yes, later I came to realise I was under FOMO (previously I had never heard the acronym and never experienced it) from February till I minted my first NFT, seven months ago in May, on the foundation.
Art of selling. Selling Art
In June it happened. My first NFT sold. And in July, my second one. In fact, my second NFT artwork sold first. And I kept on exploring platforms. I got into Async Art, Known Origin, Showtime, and Open Sea. For quite a long period, no sale happened on my marketplace in Foundation. Everyone advises patience. Patience. Patience is the only way. Be a long-term player. Don’t despair. A sale will happen. But nothing happened from 18 August to 19th October.
The Collector
I felt I had to do something. I have to break this silence of inaction and monotony. I kept on minting on OpenSea, AsyncArt, and Showtime. So far, 16 NFTs, and I am still making art and waiting for the gas fee to be affordable. There were no collectors who inquired about my work. I was excited to see DMs on Twitter and Instagram from Collector friends but never asked about my work, nor did I try to sell my work. I just wanted to keep the friendly conversation going. Not shilled, as the NFT communities say! Patience is still the motto. I am still waiting! :)
And then, on 19th October, I found that moving animal looking around turning her/his head left to right and vice versa, patiently. She/He was not bored, but eager to be picked up by a human.
An ape in red. His/her name is The Collector.
I didn’t think twice. I just clicked the bid button. I became a collector after 24 hours. I am now owning “The Collector”. She/he is safe in my Metaverse home so far. She/he is unsure of her/his future.
The Ape is not bored, nor is The Collector. I am enjoying the company of The Collector! Future? Unpredictable! But I remain as a creator and looking for a Collector for my works, till I can collect another NFT.
Thank you 2ragon
Now, if you ask me How did I become a/an NFT Collector, I don’t have an answer. :) Great times ahead. NFT Community.
